After just over five years in the Group CEO role, Shaun Drylie will be leaving SBS Bank in December to be closer to family and business interests in Canterbury. We are delighted to announce that after careful consideration Mark McLean has been appointed to the SBS Group CEO role.
Mark has been a valuable member of the SBS team for over 10 years, holding the Chief Risk Officer role, Acting Interim CEO role and most recently has headed up our Branch Network, Contact Centre, Marketing and Customer Insight divisions as General Manager Member Experience.
Mark also sits on the board of our subsidiary company, Finance Now Ltd. This diverse experience has provided Mark with a very broad exposure and well-balanced understanding of SBS and what makes us unique.
Mark has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accountancy from the University of Otago and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. He is also a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and the Institute of Directors.
Originally from Southland, Mr McLean is a well-respected member of the community in both Southland and Otago. He brings a wealth of business experience and knowledge through his working career prior to SBS, including international banking leadership roles in Europe and Asia.
As a long-serving member of the Executive team, Mark has been heavily involved in developing and delivering our strategy. His appointment will ensure we have continuity moving forward and that we do not lose any momentum.
